"Does our essay or paragraphs have to be double sided (talk about the good and the bad) or can it be a persuasive essay where I choose only one side of the topic?"
ANSWER:
It should be a persuasive essay, where you choose one side of the topic. It is important to acknowledge the other side of the issue, even in a persuasive piece of writing. This then strengthens your own opinion.
For example:
While some people believe that immigrants ultimately take jobs from those who are already living in Canada, especially those with citizenship; realistically, immigrants become productive members in the melting pot of Canadian society, furthering the knowledge, experience, and skill of the Canadian population as a whole. Therefore, Canada should accept, and protect, those who wish to become part of this collective identity, through the fundamental freedom section in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Do you see how I acknowledge the other perspective, but make my own opinion stronger?
Hope this helps those who are having a few problems involving other points of view into their writing :)
